Training Contracts

You want to train with a firm which:

(1) Takes your training seriously.

(2) Does not take you as cheap labour.

(3) Gives you challenging work and appropriate guidance to become a good lawyer.

We are looking for trainees as we are growing our team. We have 3 teams, each led by a director and looking to add an associate to the team. We are growing organically. This past year, each of our teams will be retaining a trainee as an associate. We intend to do the same in the coming year.

The Silvester Legal team focuses on Commercial Litigation and Corporate Advisory.

For Commercial Litigation, you will work directly with one of our 3 directors. All our directors are experienced and good at what we do. We do mainly High Court matters and arbitration. Most of our matters are against the big 4, and accomplished mid-sized firms, and we do well. You will be working on challenging and complex matters.

As a trainee, you will work closely on matters. Training will be rigorous, challenging and rewarding. By the end of the training, our aim is to make you better lawyers than most, if not all of your peers.

We hire trainees with a view to retention. Our aim is to ensure that you have a long and fulfilling career in the Law. That is why we try to stick to reasonable working hours and free weekends. Of course, when there is trial or urgent work, we do what is necessary to get our clients the outcomes they want.

If you show promise and work hard, we increase the allowance accordingly. You are not just cheap labour to us. You are the future of the firm, so we are very serious about training you and making you the best lawyer you can be, within the bounds of reasonable, but intense, working hours.

If you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to me ([email protected]).
