General Information about the Training Contract
About Us
We are a dynamic, full-service law firm dedicated to providing robust legal solutions. We pride ourselves on offering hands-on, diverse casework in a fast-paced and highly supportive environment.
Role Overview
We are seeking an ambitious, versatile, and eager-to-learn Practice Trainee to join our team. Unlike highly specialized roles, this position is designed for a true "all-rounder" who wants exposure to everyday, frontline legal work.
No prior experience is required—we are fully prepared to train you from the ground up. You will gain comprehensive, hands-on experience across three core pillars of litigation: criminal defense, family disputes, and civil matters.
Key Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of our partners and senior associates, you will:
- Criminal Matters: Assist with drafting mitigation pleas and representations, managing court timelines, and preparing files for trials.
- Family Matters: Assist in both contentious and non-contentious divorces, custody disputes, and maintenance applications.
- Civil Matters: Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, affidavits, and correspondence for breach of contract or tort claims.
- Client & Court Attendance: Attend client interviews to take detailed notes, manage client communications, and accompany partners to court hearings and mediations.
What We Are Looking For
- Academic & Professional Readiness: A qualifying law degree (LL.B., J.D., or equivalent) and on track to fulfill all local regulatory requirements to commence a Practice Training Contract.
- Adaptability: A strong desire to be a generalist who can pivot seamlessly between emotional family disputes, strict criminal timelines, and commercial civil matters.
- Core Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication, sharp analytical skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
- Attitude: A proactive, "hungry-to-learn" mindset. Since no prior experience is required, a high level of coachability, resilience, and empathy for clients is essential.
What We Offer
- True Generalist Training: A rare opportunity to build a solid foundation in criminal, family, and civil law simultaneously, rather than being pigeonholed early.
- Structured Mentorship: Comprehensive, patient training from a designated Practice Training Principal who will guide you through your first steps in practice.
- Career Progression: A competitive monthly training stipend with a strong emphasis on retaining our trainees as Qualified Associates upon admission to the Bar.
