Training Contracts
Sumway Law Corporation invites applications for a 12-month Practice Training Contract commencing in January 2027.
Our practice focuses on dispute resolution, with particular experience in PRC-related and cross-border matters. We also undertake corporate and commercial advisory work, regulatory and licensing matters, and private wealth and trust-related matters.
What Trainees Can Expect
Trainees will receive direct training and guidance from their supervising solicitor, with opportunities to develop practical skills in both contentious and non-contentious work.
Depending on the matters available during the training period, this will include:
- Conducting legal research, analysing case materials and contributing to discussions on case strategy;
- Assisting in drafting pleadings, affidavits, submissions, legal advice and correspondence;
- Attending client meetings and assisting in preparations for hearings, trials, arbitrations, mediations and negotiations;
- Assisting with cross-border matters and liaising with overseas counsel; and
- Reviewing and preparing commercial agreements and assisting with legal due diligence.
Alongside technical skills, trainees will be guided in developing sound legal judgment, effective client communication and an understanding of the practical and professional responsibilities of legal practice.
We recruit with a view to retention, subject to performance and the firm’s needs.
